NBI Clearance HIT

A HIT means NBI’s database matched a similar or identical name to a record that needs manual verification. It is common and does not automatically mean you have a case. Follow the return date NBI gives you. No-hit clearances proceed to printing; HIT cases return later for verification or a Quality Control interview. Bring your reference/receipt and the IDs NBI requires for that visit.

What an NBI Clearance “HIT” status means and what to do next—namesake verification or quality-control interview—without inventing case outcomes.

What You’ll Need

Use this as a preparation checklist. Items marked “If it applies” are situational.

  • Existing NBI Clearance application that returned HIT

    Official source

You must already have started an ordinary or FTJS clearance application and received a HIT / Quality Control instruction.

  • HIT / Quality Control return date from NBI

    Official source

Appear on the date NBI schedules. Follow the date printed on your receipt if it differs from general waiting-period examples.

  • Application reference / payment proof

    Confirm at office

Bring the portal reference number, OR, or other proof NBI issued for your transaction.

  • Valid government IDs required for the HIT visit

    Official source

Ordinary clearance visits require two original unexpired government-issued IDs. Bring the same class of IDs unless the HIT desk instructs otherwise.

  • Court / clearance documents if the record is yours

    If it appliesConfirm at office

If Quality Control determines the derogatory record belongs to you, NBI may require original and photocopies of final court dispositions or related clearances. Exact documents are confirmed at interview—do not rely on unofficial blog lists.

How To Do It

  1. 1

Read the HIT instruction on your transaction

    Official source

Note the return date and whether you are directed to Releasing or Quality Control. A HIT is often a namesake match, not an automatic denial.

  2. 2

Return on the scheduled date with IDs and reference

    Official source

Go to the indicated NBI Clearance section. No-hit applications print during the first visit; HIT cases are released after verification.

  3. 3

Complete Quality Control interview if required

    Confirm at office

Answer identity questions and submit only the documents the interviewer requests for your case type.

  4. 4

Claim the clearance when cleared to print

    Confirm at office

After verification, proceed to printing/releasing as instructed. Outcomes for pending cases are determined by NBI rules—not by this guide.

Fees

Ordinary clearance uses the published basic fee plus e-payment charges. First-Time Job Seeker clearance is free of charge per NBI’s Citizen’s Charter.

Additional HIT verification fee
NBI’s how-to page describes returning for HIT verification without framing an extra HIT-only fee. You still pay the ordinary clearance e-payment path when you apply. Confirm any assessment shown on your OR.

None published as a separate HIT fee

Important Notes

  • HIT is common and not automatic guilt

    Official source

Many applicants share names with other records. Follow NBI’s return date rather than unofficial “guaranteed clear” advice.

  • This is not a separate renewal product

    Official source

HIT is a status inside an existing NBI Clearance application. Start from the ordinary clearance or FTJS guide if you have not applied yet.

Where / How To Apply

Return to the NBI Clearance branch or satellite office that processed your biometrics / set your HIT return date. HIT resolution is not completed solely inside the online portal.
