Philippine National ID Registration

Register in person at a PhilSys registration center with original supporting documents. Prefer a primary document (for example PSA birth certificate plus a photo government ID, or a Philippine passport, UMID, or LTO license/permit). Biometrics and demographics are captured on site; you receive a transaction slip with a Transaction Reference Number (TRN). After successful registration you may use the physical National ID, ePhilID/paper format, and—via eGovPH—the Digital National ID; all formats are valid proof of identity and age per PhilSys.

What to bring and what happens when you register for the Philippine National ID (PhilSys)—including how the physical card, ePhilID/paper format, and Digital National ID relate.

What You’ll Need

Use this as a preparation checklist. Items marked “If it applies” are situational.

  • Primary supporting document (preferred)

    Official source

Bring the original of any one: (1) PSA Certificate of Live Birth plus one government-issued ID with full name, front-facing photo, and signature/thumb mark; (2) Philippine passport/ePassport (DFA); (3) GSIS/SSS UMID; or (4) LTO student’s permit or non-professional/professional driver’s license. If PSA birth and the other ID conflict, PSA birth entries prevail.

    Originals for presentation
  • Secondary supporting document (if no primary)

    If it appliesOfficial source

If you cannot present a primary set, PhilSys lists secondary options such as PSA/NSO birth with BreN, LCRO birth certificate, PRC ID, PhilHealth ID, Postal ID, TIN ID, NBI clearance, and many others on the supporting-documents page. Some secondary IDs also need photo, signature/thumbmark, full name, permanent address, and date of birth.

  • Personal appearance for demographics and biometrics

    Official source

Registration captures demographic data plus biometrics (fingerprint, iris, front-facing image) for eligible ages. Children 1–4: demographics and front-facing photo only, linked to parent/guardian; full biometrics from age 5, with recapture at 15 per PhilSys FAQ.

How To Do It

    Official source

Have your data validated and biometrics captured, then review and confirm before finalizing.

  3. 3

Keep your Transaction Reference Number (TRN)

    Official source

You receive a transaction slip with a TRN. Use it to track National ID delivery and ePhilID / paper-format availability.

  4. 4

Use the National ID format that becomes available

    Official source

Formats include the physical card, ePhilID/National ID in paper format, and Digital National ID in eGovPH. PhilSys states all formats are valid proof of identity and age. Printed ePhilID can be authenticated via PhilSys Check QR scan.

PhilSys FAQ states registration is open to Filipinos ages 1 and above, with age-specific biometric rules for young children.
