How To Do It

  1. 1

Use renewal if you already hold an ePassport and are only extending it. Lost and damaged cases follow replacement rules, not plain new-application assumptions.

Add a PSA marriage document only when using a spouse’s surname. Bring originals and photocopies.

Important Notes

  • Do not buy tickets before release

    Official source

DFA advises against purchasing outbound travel tickets until the passport is actually in your possession.

  • Secondary IDs are not enough

    Official source

Postal ID, TIN ID, and PhilHealth ID are not accepted as valid IDs for passport application.

  • Special citizenship cases need extra documents

    Confirm at office

Naturalized, dual-citizen, retained/reacquired, and citizenship-by-election applicants have additional supporting documents. Use the decision tool’s special-case result if that applies.

Where / How To Apply

Book a confirmed appointment at passport.gov.ph, then appear in person at the chosen DFA Consular Office, Temporary Off-site Passport Service (TOPS) site, or other published domestic passport site. Filipinos abroad use the Philippine Embassy or Consulate that covers their residence.

Foreign Service Posts publish longer timelines (about 4–6 weeks). Do not buy outbound tickets until the passport is in hand.
